Barrington Stage Company is seeking a Properties Manager to join our team in Pittsfield, MA for the summer season. BSC is a not-for-profit professional theatre company in the Berkshires with a three-fold mission: to produce top notch, compelling work; to develop new plays and musicals; and to engage our community with vibrant, inclusive educational outreach programs.

Duties:
Construction and Acquisition of Theatrical Properties
Read scripts and create preliminary properties list.
Estimate materials cost and labor needs for properties from the designers renderings and research.
Coordinate and manage the construction, pulling, purchasing, renting and/or altering of all properties for each show.
Purchase materials, supplies, tools and equipment necessary for the construction of properties.
Communicate with Designers and Director of Production and Operations to keep designs within budget.
Communicate with Designers to accurately execute designs and achieve high artistic standards.
Communicate with Stage Manager and Designer about rehearsal and tech notes.
Maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
Provide Director of Production and Operations with timely and up to date reports tracking all expenses, returns and credits
Train show crew in proper methods of operating, moving, storing and maintaining properties.

Properties Shop and Properties Storage Maintenance
Oversee all maintenance of shop tools and equipment making sure they are in safe and proper working order

Oversee all maintenance of properties stock making sure all items are restocked in their proper area and easy to relocate

Requirements

Strong leadership, communication and organizational skill
Cost estimating and time management skills
Working knowledge of properties construction techniques and materials
Working knowledge of shop tools and equipment including welders and sewing machines
Knowledge of furniture history and period
Knowledge of mold making and casting techniques
