Open Call for Artists: "Fragments In Our Home"

Thank you for your interest in participating in L'appartement 49C’s “Fragments In Our Home”, explores home as a collection of shifting memories, objects, and fleeting moments. We welcome submissions from artist working in any medium.

This exhibition will take place in L'appartement 49C, an artist-run salon-style gallery founded by Steffie Chau in New York.

Requirements

What makes a home? Is it the place itself, or the fragments we collect along the way?

“Fragments In Our Home” explores the idea of home as a collage—woven together from transient experiences, personal rituals, and the small, often overlooked details that shape our sense of place. This exhibition invites artists whose work engages with memory, materiality, and impermanence.

We are seeking artworks that evoke the intimate and deeply personal items people carry with them—family heirlooms, photographs, letters, and mementos. We also welcome works that embody the shifting nature of home and memory—installations that evolve, degrade, or transform over time, mirroring the ephemeral quality of belonging.

We welcome submissions from artists of all disciplines. (Painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, photography, digital art, mixed media, site-specific installations, illustration, performance, etc.)
