REPORTS TO: Director of Development
McCarter Theatre Center, located on the campus of Princeton University, is one of the nation’s most active cultural centers. McCarter produces a vibrant six-play Theater Series and is a major presenter of the performing arts. We are committed to engaging, educating and cultivating a broad range of audiences, making the arts accessible to all people, and presenting a variety of entertaining and thought-provoking programming across disciplines.
Principal Job Responsibilities:
-Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward McCarter’s pipeline of institutional donors with an emphasis on corporate and foundation donors and solicit unrestricted and program-specific grants to support new and existing initiatives.
-Write letters of intent, grant proposals, and reports for foundation grants and other institutional grants or sponsorships as assigned. Ensure timely submission and compliance with grant guidelines.
-Serve as the project manager for major and multi-year grants to ensure timely fulfillment of grant requirements including the project content, budget and deliverables.
-Manage grant proposal activities and objectives between departments including drafting and submission of interim and final narrative and financial reports.
-Work with other members of the leadership staff including the Artistic and Managing Directors on grant proposals and reports, to strengthen donor relationships, and to plan donor visits.
-Attend donor meetings, programs and events. Represent and promote the mission of the McCarter to donors, prospective donors, stakeholders and partners.
-Conduct independent research to identify new foundation and corporate donors. Engage with program officers to cultivate relationships and solicit invitations to submit proposals.
-Manage corporate sponsorship activity related to annual Gala.
-Work with the Director of Development to produce an Annual Report and other communication.
-Maintain all online rating agencies including web pages, DataArts, Guidestar, Charity Navigator, and others.

Qualifications & Requirements:
-Bachelor’s degree and background in grant and data management and administration preferred or equivalent experience.
-Excellent writing ability that is clear, concise and analytic in style.
-Experience with a relational database system and/or CRM; some exposure to grants administration and/or non-profit organizations is highly desirable.
-Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite.
-Familiarity with Tessitura, Prospect2 and/or other fundraising software.
-Ability and experience working collaboratively with and managing projects that include external organizations and entities.
