Manhattan Theatre Club (MTC), a Tony Award-winning nonprofit theatre dedicated to the production of contemporary plays and musicals, seeks a Capital Campaign Coordinator. For fifty years, MTC has been the creative and artistic home for America’s most gifted theatrical artists, producing works of the highest quality by American and international playwrights. MTC produces eight plays annually in Broadway’s restored Samuel J. Friedman Theatre on West 47th Street and off Broadway at the historic NY City Center complex on West 55th Street.

Summary Description:
MTC’s Development Communications Assistant is the member of the Individual Giving team who is responsible for building emails, implementing website updates, updating digital forms, creating invitations, and more. This person liaises with Marketing and Special Events, as well as external vendors. The Development Communications Assistant assists the Director of Development with a portfolio of up to 150 households, facilitating efforts to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward donors and prospects. They will also help to maintain the high level of customer service delivered through MTC’s Patron Hotline, Concierge lines and email inboxes.

Job Responsibilities:
Marketing and Communications

  • Execute email campaigns for Individual Giving department o Using WordFly and pre-designed templates, create and send all Individual Giving emails o Utilize conditional formatting to ensure efficient and personalized communication
  • Customize regular “MTC show news” emails
  • Manage and update web pages
  • Coordinate with outside vendors, re: IG materials o Brochures, posters, etc.
  • Liaise with mail house as needed
  • Collaborate with Special Events to build both digital and printed invitations

Patron Hotline

  • Answer MTC Concierge and provide back-up for Patron Hotline o Ticket orders/exchanges o General questions o Voicemail o Take renewals
  • Serve as support for email inboxes

Fundraising

  • Make new Patron welcome calls send Friend welcome emails
  • Manage donor notes on seats
  • Assist Director of Development with portfolio management
  • Represent MTC at special events as needed

Administration

  • Provide support for Special Events department as needed
  • Manage beginning-of-season mailing/calendar
  • Secure signed posters and Playbills o Track inventory
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

Desired Experience/Skills: Entry-level role; No prior Development experience required; WordFly (or similar email building platform); Adobe InDesign; customer service and ticketing experience, as well as familiarity with Tessitura (or similar CRM); Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel; Basecamp (or similar project management tool); DonorSearch (or similar wealth screening software); Slack

This is a full-time, in-person position at MTC’s administrative office (311 West 43rd Street, New York, NY). Some evening and occasional weekend work are required. The salary for this position is in the $40K range.
