Who We Are:
SAADA uses the power of stories to create belonging for 5.4+ million South Asian Americans. Their archive, storytelling projects, artistic partnerships, walking tours, lesson plans, films, and books help ensure that South Asian Americans are recognized as an essential part of the American story.

Responsibilities:

The Communications Specialist will report to SAADA’s Executive Director and be responsible for:

Using SAADA’s communications channels to deepen our relationships with our community (50%) by:
-Serving as lead writer, editor, and designer on a range of communications projects and materials, with an emphasis on digital platforms. Content includes weekly email updates, social media posts, press releases, website copy, reports, and communication with constituents.
-Managing day-to-day operations of social media channels, email lists, and websites, including back-end content management and organization, and responding to press inquiries and social media messages.
-Collaborating with SAADA’s Executive Director and other staff to create and maintain a content calendar for all communication channels.
-Overseeing all dimensions of communications projects, including managing timelines, budgets, deliverables, milestones, and relationships with collaborators, so that elements of each project are on track to meet deadlines and fulfill goals.
-Maintaining consistent brand identity for all organizational products, including PowerPoint slides, emails, and written communication.

Expanding SAADA’s audiences by supporting the development and execution of a comprehensive communications strategy (40%) by:
-Supporting SAADA’s Executive Director in proactively building relationships with journalists, funders, artists, and other culture makers.
-Establishing pipelines that cultivate prospective stakeholders to become engaged members of SAADA’s community.
-Analyzing communication patterns and trends to develop creative marketing and communication strategies that expand SAADA’s reach and engage new audiences in SAADA’s work.
-Solidifying SAADA’s position as an essential resource for all who want to learn about the South Asian American community.

Contributing to SAADA’s operations, sustainability, and growth (10%) by:
-Engaging in other projects assigned by SAADA’s Executive Director.
-Participating in conversations with community members, donors, contributors, and others invested in SAADA’s work.
-Pursuing professional development and learning opportunities that grow your skill sets.

-Empathy and demonstrated understanding of the South Asian American immigrant experience and/or experiences of other marginalized communities.

-A willingness to be available for occasional weekend/evening meetings (2-3 times/month) and time-sensitive deadlines.

Salary and Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $50,000 - $55,000. SAADA is committed to providing our staff with a competitive benefits package, which includes a monthly health insurance stipend, paid time off, short- and long-term disability and life insurance, retirement matching, a wellness stipend, and a professional development fund. This hybrid position (three days in office per week) is based in SAADA’s Philadelphia office, located at 1650 Arch Street, Suite 2130, Philadelphia, PA 19103.
