The Opportunity:
We want everyone to know about, participate in, and be impacted by the innovative culture-change work we’re doing at SAADA. To support that goal, we are seeking a Communications Manager to lead our nationwide communications strategy. Reporting to SAADA’s Executive Director, the person in this role will:
Develop and execute a comprehensive communications strategy that will share SAADA’s story, increase audience engagement, and elevate our national presence (30%):
-Media relations. Initiate and manage communication with journalists and media members, responding to press inquiries, social media requests, and relevant current events.
-Brand identity. Create and maintain consistent brand identity for all organizational work products, including PowerPoint slides, emails, and written communication.
-Increasing awareness of SAADA’s resources. Cement SAADA’s position as an essential resource for all who want to learn about South Asian American history and the community.
Write and design compelling content that inspires audiences to take part in SAADA’s work (30%):
-Writing and editing. Serve as lead writer and editor on a range of timely communications projects and materials, with an emphasis on digital platforms. Content will include weekly email updates, social media posts, press releases, website copy, and communication with constituents.
-Visual design. Create compelling visual content for social media, emails, marketing materials, and reports using software such as Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator.
-Stakeholder collaboration. Liaise with stakeholders, including donors, volunteers, and community members, to ensure effective and timely communication of programs and initiatives.
Lead and implement both day-to-day and long-term communications projects that impact SAADA’s ability to reach our audiences (30%):
-Digital and social media. Day-to-day management of social media channels, email list, and website, including back-end content management and organization. Create, review, and post content that follows best practices and reflects SAADA’s organizational voice. Analyze data metrics to ensure consistent growth on all engagement platforms.
-Editorial planning. Collaborate with SAADA’s Executive Director and other staff to create and maintain an editorial calendar for all communication channels.
-Project management. Oversee all dimensions of communications projects, including managing timelines, budgets, deliverables, and milestones, so that elements of each project are on track to meet deadlines and fulfill goals. Communicate proactively with collaborators to assure their respective contributions to a project meet expectations and deadlines.
Contribute to SAADA’s operations, sustainability, and growth (10%):
-Support organizational growth. Engage in other projects assigned by SAADA’s Executive Director, including supervision of staff.
-Community engagement. Participate in conversations with community members, donors, contributors, and others invested in SAADA’s work.
-Pursuing professional growth. Participate in professional development and other learning opportunities to stay abreast of best practices in your field and grow your skill sets.

-Marketing and communications expertise acquired through at least 4 years of relevant professional experience.
-Clear communication skills for in-person and online interactions that allow you to coordinate effectively with those involved in your projects and events.
-Empathy and demonstrated understanding of the South Asian American immigrant experience and/or experiences of other marginalized communities.
-Pride in the work that you lead for SAADA, motivating you to consistently aim to create impactful work.
-Curiosity and drive to efficiently spearhead meaningful initiatives for the communities that SAADA serves.
-A willingness to be available for occasional evening meetings (2-3 times/month) and time-sensitive deadlines.
-Flexibility, optimism, and a desire to learn and challenge yourself in a rapidly growing organization.

Salary and Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $60,000 - $65,000. SAADA is committed to providing our staff with a competitive benefits package, which includes a monthly health insurance stipend, paid time off, short- and long-term disability and life insurance, retirement matching, a wellness stipend, and a professional development fund. This hybrid position (three days in office per week) is based in SAADA’s Philadelphia office, located at 1650 Arch Street, Suite 2130, Philadelphia, PA 19103.
