Open Call for Documentary Film: "Anna May Wong: Wedded to My Art"
Documentary filmmaker seeking collaborations with artists in the following capacity:
1. I need to find a theater space for two days shooting. It can be a small
stage(elevated little bit from the audience) with a piano and black drapes.
I have a small budget for the location fee. Outside NYC is o.k.
2. I need an art director who is a painter, is interested in creating a set
for the shooting and other preparation. Again the fee is small but credit
on the documentary and DVD copy of the finished documentary.
3. I need a choreographer/dancer who could choreograph 1-2 minutes movement
based on film footage/research I have. An actress will perform it during
the shoot. Again the fee is small but credit on the documentary and DVD
copy of the finished documentary.

CASTING CALL
The Lure: When Night Turns to Day
Original independent 20 minute romantic thriller short film to be shot in NYC, July 14-20 2008. For festival and other distribution. All roles involve martial
arts, but no experience needed. Discrete sexual nudity for leads.
American Woman for lead role 28, attractive, daredevil, ex-cutter, loner;
Japanese Man for lead role 28; attractive, smart, sensitive
but also volatile- not perfect English but
comprehensible;
Japanese Man 55-68, solid-built,
businessman/mafia;
Hispanic-American Woman, 30-37,
athletic, extroverted, sense of humor,
Korean-American Man, 26-32, sporty, kind,
sharp-dresser.
SAG and non-union. Bring dramatic
monologue, be prepared to read w/ actor and improvise.

chaFilmFest 2008
chashama burst onto the art world in 1996 by dazzling pedestrians with its enticing, provocative window performances. Now, chashama steps into the arena of film with the first annual chashama Film Festival. Artists will be able to showcase their creativity in New York City, without even having to be in NYC. The chashama Film Festival aims to reach artists that make work around the globe, and bring those deserving films to NYC audiences.
Guidelines:
Any film that has been finished or revised in the past year is eligible. Films may include features, shorts, or animations; films can be narrative or experimental.
Format: DVD, Mini-DV, VHS.

The winner will be voted on by a panel of industry professionals and the audience on the last day of the public screenings. Open Call for Workspace Artist Residency
LMCC provides studio space to over 250 emerging artists in some of the most significant architectural icons, from the World Financial Center to the Woolworth building. Three walls and a view has always been the concept behind Workspace. No door means more interaction, more access to fellow artists and a cross pollination that positively influences future work. LMCC offers two locations: 200 Hudson St. 4th Floor in Tribeca and The US Custom House at Bowling Green in the Financial District. Like its first location in the WTC, this program continues the Council's mission to place artists in studios just blocks from Wall Street changing what it means to "work" downtown.
Who can apply?
Workspace is open to emerging and mid-career artists working in all disciplins including drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, film/video, installation/mixed media, sound, performance and new media/computer arts. This program is dedicated to serving up-an-coming artists, individuals without current commercial gallery representation, and artists currently without studios.

Open Call: Provacative Short Video Submissions from Creative Exhibitionists Who Video Themselves
Are you an artist, performer, athlete or other that pushes the limits in your work physically, mentally and/or emotionally and do you want people to watch? Do you have video footage of you or someone else who does and does it reflect an element of masochism?
apexart invites short performance video submissions as described above for an interesting evening of discussion related to an exhibition involving reconstructive surgery and the objectification of the human body.
Submissions must be received on or before Monday, June 2 at 6 pm. No exceptions.
Individuals whose work has been selected will be notified.

-Name, contact info and any interesting info about you.
-One paragraph explaining the work submitted.
-DVD of one or two works with total combined length no longer than 15 minutes.

Filmmakers are invited to submit their films (Features: narrative and documentary) and Shorts for the 8th Annual Mahindra Indo-American Arts Council Film Festival on November 5-9, 2008.
Eligibility: Films may be submitted in either of the following two sections:
Diaspora Films: Films made my filmmakers of South Asian origin living in the diaspora or projects by non-South Asians with South Asian content, cast or crew.
Independent Films: Projects from the Indian Subcontinent with a unique voice/message and considered independent by the industry.

4 Master Classes in Kabuki Dance with Sachiyo Ito, master choreographer
The workshop will focus on the basic movements, walks, and gestures of Kabuki dance in both female and male dance; use of props such as sensu (fan), tenugui (towel/scarf) and two short dances in both female and male dance from Kabuki repertory. Yukata (cotton robe), or tabi (socks) and a fan are required. Ms. Sachiyo Ito has nearly 35 years of experience in the art of classical, traditional, and contemporary Japanese dance. Ito choreographed Pan Asian Rep's acclaimed production of Shogun MacBeth and will be joining Pan Asian Rep again for the upcoming revival of the production in the Fall of 2008.
Tuition: $200 (4 sessions)

Finance Coordinator
The Museum of Chinese in America (MOCA) gathers and documents the personal stories of Chinese Americans, communicating their traditions, struggles and achievements. MOCA traces the many places of origin of Chinese Americans and their connections to families and homelands throughout the world. MOCA seeks a full-time Finance Coordinator to handle the day-to-day financial administration of the museum especially its bookkeeping, budgeting, financial reporting and analysis. The Finance Coordinator will report to the Chief Operating Officer and interact with all departments. The ideal candidate should have strong bookkeeping experience and some experience with all aspects of financial administration of a nonprofit. Salary commensurate with experience.
Requirements:
• BA degree with at least 2 years of full-time experience in a bookkeeping role; • Possess a good working knowledge of accounting concepts and financial analysis; • Strong computer skills including high proficiency with MS Excel and accounting software (knowledge of Fund EZ is a significant plus) • Excellent analytical and interpersonal communication skills; • Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, pay attention to detail and follow-through; • High-energy and collaborative working style. Special consideration given to individuals with: • Experience with nonprofit finances, especially museum finances • Background in social justice
Responsibilities:
• Bookkeeping of all financial activities of the museum; • Assist in the management of the accounts receivable and payable functions of the museum • Manage schedule for financial reporting as well as produce reports (especially cash flow and variance reports) for COO, Executive Director, Board meetings, and funding purposes; • Train staff on MS Excel and assist with the routine preparation and management of each department’s budget; • Assist with administration of contracts, procurement, and vendors; • Other duties as needed.

Volunteers Needed
We need volunteers to help with the distribution of the Winter 2007/Spring 2008 Lotus Calendar. Through this process, we aim to reach both current and potential patrons by dropping off updated materials detailing our upcoming events and classes to various cultural and arts organizations around the city. This distribution is a vital and necessary part of Lotus' publicity process and any help we can get is highly appreciated.
Each volunteer receives a list of 4-5 drop off locations to visit, all within a certain neighborhood. Please contact Arielle at AFalk@lotusmusicanddance.org if you are interested in donating an hour or two of your time to Lotus. Please make sure to include your name and contact information in the email.
